Addictions

Addictions
Written by Elcilia Bierd

Talking about addictions is easy when you have a clear meaning about what an addiction is.
First of all, don't confuse an addiction with a hobby. A hobby is something you do for enjoyment, pleasure, entertainment, etc., that you can quit whenever you want to. Hobbies consume the time you think/decide they need, you can have many hobbies and they don't affect your life, health or relations with family, friends and other people. In fact, they are people how use to join their family using a hobby. For example, ridding bikes, surfing, jogging, playing chess, etc.

An addiction is something that you can't stop. It consumes your time, affect your psychical and mental health, the relation you have with your family, couple, and friends, and the way you develop your live.
Some addictions are dangerous. For example, the drug's use (or abuse) affects your body and mind; being shopaholic affects your mind and pocket; gambling addiction ( in casino) affect your pocket and self-control; alcoholism, which affects your body, can cause problems in family with scenes of violence included, and the list is longer and longer.

Some people say that quit an addiction is easy. I say ''NO''. Why? Because it depends on what kind of addiction you have, the kind of person that has the addiction, the willpower and strong decision you have for getting out of where you are and the way that you use to face the problem.
The aid that you receive matters when you are in a recovery process, such as, psychological, social, etc., and other factors that I don't mention.

Some people say that is easy to quit an addiction. I say ''YES''. But you would think I'm crazy because of the last paragraph. Why? It's simple: You start getting over an addiction when you accept you have one. the next steps for following depend on what factors that I mentioned before you take and the way you use them to get over the situation.

In both cases all depend on YOU and the way you see it. If you had or have one or some addictions you would know what I mean.
So, tell me or tell us some of your addictions and how you got out of them.
I'll start first: I use cutting my hair with my fingers when I'm nervous, anxious or worried for something.
When I realized that I'm doing that, I stop and think what's going on that is getting me nervous, and stop it doing something different: I move my body (with exercise, for example), I try making crafting, drawing or something else, but I stop doing that because I know it is bad for me.
Now, it is your turn, tell me/us what's your addiction? How you get over it? What you recommend?
