Political Corruption

I love the idea of politics and all people should think like me, but sadly, that is not true. Political corruption has taken away people’s hopes, dreams, and desires. I understand why fewer people believe in politics. People do not believe in politics because of the corrupt leaders, the false promises, and the absence of integrity in public administration.

First of all, the essence of leadership is service and it is not different with political leaders. People vote for politicians because they represent us as public servants but the ugly truth is when politicians get to power they forget to serve people and show the real face which is stealing our money to use it for their own benefit.

Besides corrupt leaders, another factor in people’s disappointment are the false promises. While politicians are campaigning looking for people’s votes, they promise everything to get votes but the reality is different. Those are empty promises. Politicians do not want to lose the opportunity to get the power; therefore, they use false promises to get people’s votes.

But even more than the false promises, it is the absence of integrity in public administration that upsets people. All taxes paid by people are to be used with integrity and not to buy new cars, houses, or to benefit people in power. If the government wants to make constructions and build new schools or highways it is important to work with transparency, but the reality is different because the majority of ministers provide jobs to their families and friends.

Since the beginning of politics, there have always been corrupt leaders, false promises, and absence of integrity in public administration. All those three elements are reasons why people do not believe in politics and what we call political corruption.
