International Women's Day

Every year on March 8, since 1911, the International Women’s Day is celebrated. This celebration pretend to highlight the social achievements of women in many aspects, such as political, economic, education, sports, etc.

In Latin America, and specially in our Dominican Republic, the macho culture is still very strong, but we can say that the situation have gone changing little by little; 20 years ago,  the role of women was relegated only raising children, do the housework, and not to forget the character of being a wife. Nevertheless, today the mentality is different; we can see many women working in positions that used to be rule for men, like in big industries, constructions, political parties, banks, television, etc. In addition, women are most worried than men in acquired a high educational level.

In conclusion, everybody deserve the same opportunities, and we could not wait one day a year to celebrate the push that women have been developing through years of hard working and the struggle for women’s rights.
