Feng Shui : Ancient Wisdom Travels West.

Unit 5.

Feng Shui is the Chinese system that helps us live in harmony with the elements and the natural forces of earth. It means wind and water. It deals with balancing our Ch'i and turns around the forces of Ying Yang.

The distribution of the furniture, the colors used in each room, as well as the location of the building are fundamental in Feng Shui. All these things allow the environment to be in balance and to give us positive energy. Feng Shui uses colors, numbers, animal symbols and the five elements ( earth, water, fire, metal and wood ) in order to produce balance and harmony in our surroundings.

Nowadays this technique is widespread throughout the world and it is applied by specialized designers in the art of Feng Shui. The practice of Feng Shui focuses on the Ying-Yang energy. It is a disciplined widely known.

Some Feng Shui experts place and emphasis on the study of the forms: the mountains, the rivers, the structure of the house or the workplace , the location of the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc., even the placing of the furniture.

The principal objective of Feng Shui is based on that everything around us, even the most minimum details in furniture and decoration can favor or damage our goals of life. It consists also on using a space so that Ch'i or energy can flow with harmony and balance.

According to Feng Shui experts the way that we integrate ourselves to the environment is the key of the success or the reason of a failure. When we know the way that the universal energy flows , we can use it in our benefit. A window facing the door disperses Ch'i and it prevents us from concentrating.
