Was floored when I read about this theme because I hadn't thought internet could be an addiction but to my surprise, it is consider as an illness by behavior researchers. Since internet was invented has revolutionized the world of business due to the facilities it has given at work today, and most of the people have a machine from back then such as laptop, mini tower and smart phones which are programmed automatically to use this tool right away.
During the reading I found people who last 15-20 hours on internet are not considered addicted to it because most of them have to work with it and some people work from their houses making some informs or sending information of jobs to be done. But where the problem is when someone starts to spend most of his or her time in front of the computer screens sending e-mail, playing computer games, or entering chat rooms where they communicate with different people worldwide.
People develop internet addiction when they begin to surf the net for longer and longer periods of time. At first, they go on-line for work, study, or pleasure and spend one or two hours a day. Notwithstanding, the hours gradually augment and they become computer slaves provoking behaviors such as obsessivity or compulsiveness, or selfish fulfillment. When people are addicted to internet, according to researchers, they develop a habitual lack of care or neglect their responsibilities like getting late to work or no going to working.
Internet addicts become lonely people because they stand aloof from society, don't get together with their fellow and confront trouble with their relationships. In another word, they are avoiding the intimacy without they aware of it. But Psychologists have been planning how to face this new sort of addiction by forming support-groups, a special form of therapy to help those people control their on-line habit.
To myself, I have to recognize I did know nothing about this new kind of addiction, and according to specialists, it is considered like any other sort of addictions such as sex, gambling, and drugs. This social problem claims psychologists’ attention due to inquiries results which cast college and university students, businesspeople, and homemakers more prone to this addiction.
