Feng Shui

Feng shui is the art of placing and situating a building so that it is in harmony with its surroundings. According to Feng Shui, cultural and social issues are influenced by natural, metaphysical and cosmological factors.
It is a 4,000-year-old Chinese philosophy believed to increase wealth, improve health, and promote rewarding relationships for household members. Those who practice Feng Shui, learn to construct a harmonious and auspicious place to live and work.

I don’t think that Feng Shui principles are being practiced commonly in the Dominican Republic and if so, it’s practiced by the well to do people because it sounds an estrange term to most of the people I talk to. However, its principles are taken in to account to build and decorate hotels, resorts, casinos, etc.
One superstition people in my town have is that using broken dishes gives you bad luck.
