Centenarian people

According to an article by Emily Brandon from US News, people in the USA are living to age 100. People of that age has share many traits for example:

  1. Female gender: Most of the people, who are a 100 years old, are women. According to the article, 82 percent of the centenarian population is female. Women are more sociable than men, so as proposed by some studies, people who are more sociable tend to live more.
  2. White people: Most of the centenarian people are white vs the diverse population of USA.
  3. Living with others: 2 out of 3 oldest people live with a relative. 
  4. Living in urban areas: People who has more than 100 years usually lives in downtown or near to it. Another reason for elders to live in downtown is everything is close to them, hospitals, drugstores, grocery stores.
Although all this reasons there are other countries that have bigger proportion of centenarians. We can mention Japan who has 3.43 centenarian per 10.000 people.
