The Oldest Old
The Oldest Man In History
Everybody longs for immortality; People want to live forever, but,
unfortunately, there is a raw reality which establishes that every living human
being or creature is to die. People try to keep living as much as possible, but
the time comes when they leave this life. Nevertheless, there are people who
have achieved to live for more than one hundred (100) years old. Living for over
one hundred (100) years old is a privilege in this world that not everybody has
had. I think that when you can contemplate various generations, having the
opportunity to see your children, your grand children, your grand grand
children etc.. you experience life from different angles, allowing you to
understand more what life is about. However, there was a man who
broke a record with his life, a man who could live for almost a thousand years
old and I ask myself how would it feel?
The holy
bible says that there was a man who died at the age of 969 years old, his name
was Methuselah. This blessed man lived for almost a thousand years on earth. He
could contemplate more than twenty generations from him. His father was
Enoch a man who never saw death since he was taken alive to Heaven.
Methuselah was Noah´s grandfather. Noah was the builder of the Ark. The phrase
"old as Methuselah" is very commonly use to refer to any living thing
reaching a great age since Methuselah´s
feat is definitively worth remembering it. It is difficult even to imagine
living for that period of time. So far, no one has reached
Methuselah´s age. According to the Bible God determined that to humankind,
limiting men to live one hundred and twenty years old as much due to men´s evil. In addition, it is important to remember that in order to live for long we have to live a healthy life: eating healthy food and doing exercise. That really counts! However, death is inevitable. Everybody shall die someday.
Very good Anderson. I agree when you say that living for over 100 years old is a privilege. I want to live over one hundred years old.
