ELDERLY

Old people often have limited regenerative abilities and are more susceptible to disease, syndromes, and sickness than younger adults.

 Promoting independence in the elderly

Promoting independence in self-care can provide older adults with the capability to maintain independence longer and can leave them with a sense of achievement when they complete a task unaided. Older adults that require assistance with activities of daily living are at a greater risk of losing their independence with self-care tasks as dependent personal behaviours are often met.

theories of Old Age

1. Disengagement
2. Activity
3. Socioemocional Selectivity

1. Disengagement theory occurs when old age are disenggement between peaple and society, disengaged from family responsability and work.

2. Actvity this theory has been fauled for psycological changes that occur in old age as shown by reduced activity even when availabel.

3. Socioeconomical Selectvity  is continuity sustained by social networks, more harmonious relationships.

I think there are more differents theories, in a community the old people are saw as porcelain, their families does not let them doing nathing just stay sit.

I know a old woman she is 98 years- old, almost a centenary person. Her situation is different to others centenaries, she lives alone sometimes hers childrens visit her one or two times a day but most of the times she is lonly in the hause.
