General Description of Bashful Personality

Bashful is warm and kind-hearted, and wants to believe the best in people. He values harmony and cooperation, and is likely to be very sensitive to other people's feelings. Bashfuls have a highly active fertile inner world that is not usually obvious to observers. They are constantly taking in information about people and situations that is personally important to them, and storing it for later use. This tremendous store of knowledge is usually amazingly accurate, because the Bashful personality has an exceptional memory about things that are important to their value systems. Some Bashfuls have been known to recall a particular facial expression or conversation in precise detail years after the event occurred, if the situation made an impression on Bashful.
In a meeting, Bashful tends to keep a low profile. While very quiet and unlikely to make eye contact with the leader, Bashful is fully participating, taking everything in. This dwarf type person doesn't miss a beat with regard to sights, sounds and senses. Bashful is very conscious that his criticisms of other people or their ideas can hurt their feelings, and if asked for feedback regarding another person will steadfastly refrain from unnecessary criticism.
Bashfuls have a very clear idea of the way things should be, which they strive to attain. They value kindness, and respect traditions and laws. They tend to believe that existing rules are there because they work. Therefore, they're not likely to buy into doing things in a new way, unless they're shown in a concrete way why it's better than the established method.
Bashfuls learn through their senses more than books. They watch and practice to master what they need to do, more so than taking information in through academic means. They value practical application. Traditional methods of higher education, which require a lot of theorizing and abstraction, are likely to be a chore for Bashful.
Bashfuls are loyal and dependable. They believe in and follow time honored traditions. They may come from strict religious upbringings and while they may no longer adhere to the doctrines in a routinized manner, they follow the spirit of the law.
Bashfuls have an artistic sense or appreciation. They have a well-developed sense of space, function, and aesthetic appeal. This special ability, combined with their sensitivity to other's feelings and desires, makes them very likely to be great gift-givers - finding the right gift which will be truly appreciated by the recipient.
More so than other dwarf types, Bashfuls are attuned to their own internal feelings, as well as other people's feelings. They do not usually express their own feelings, keeping things inside. If they are negative feelings, they may build up inside Bashfuls until they turn into firm judgments against individuals which are difficult to unseed, once set. Bashfuls need to learn to express themselves, and find outlets for their powerful emotions. Under the apparent calm is a passionate person.
Just as Bashfuls are not likely to express their feelings, they are also not likely to let on that they know how others are feeling. However, they will speak up when they feel another individual really needs help, and in such cases they can truly help others become aware of their feelings.
Bashfuls feel a strong sense of responsibility and duty. They take their responsibilities very seriously, and can be counted on to follow through. For this reason, people naturally tend to rely on them. Bashfuls have a difficult time saying "no" when asked to do something, and may become over-burdened. In such cases, Bashfuls do not usually express their difficulties to others, because they intensely dislike conflict, and because they tend to place other people's needs over their own. Bashfuls need to learn to identify, value, and express their own needs, if they wish to avoid becoming over-worked and taken for granted.
Bashfuls need positive feedback from others. In the absence of positive feedback, or in the face of criticism, they become discouraged, and may even become depressed. When down on themselves or under great stress, Bashfuls begin to imagine all of the things that might go critically wrong in their life. They have strong feelings of inadequacy, and become convinced that "everything is all wrong", or "I can't do anything right".
Bashfuls are warm, generous, and dependable. They have many special gifts to offer, in their sensitivity to others, and their strong ability to keep things running smoothly. They need to remember to not be overly critical of themselves, and to give themselves some of the warmth and love which they freely dispense to others.

Old people in Dominican Republic

Old people in Domican Republic don't have any protection from the goverment, some of them are homeless and don't have anybody who can take care about them.

ELDERLY PEOPLE IN CHINA

ELDERLY PEOPLE IN CHINA

Respect for elders is often the basis for the way society is organized and has been at the foundation of Chinese culture and morality for thousands of years. Older people are respected for their wisdom and most important decisions have traditionally not been made without consulting them. Confucian filial piety encourages the younger generation to follow the teachings of elders and for elders to teach the young their duties and manners.

The elderly enjoy high status. Respect has traditionally been regarded as something earned with age. An emphasis on youth isn't as strong as it is in the West. Respect for the elderly is manifested through the custom of allowing the elderly people to go first, giving up seats to them on buses and generally deferring to them, helping them out and respecting their opinions and advise.

Old people are arguably among the happiest people in China. You can often find them singing and dancing in the parks or hanging out and joking around on the streets with their friends. Their cheerfulness appears to come from three sources: Confucianism, which teaches respect to one's elders; having a network of good friends; and the fact that older people, after a life of working hard, finally get a chance to kick back and relax and have their children take care of them.

Respect for Older People in China

Many codes of behavior revolve around young people showing respect to older people. Younger people are expected to defer to older people, let them speak first, sit down after them and not contradict them. Sometime when an older person enters a room, everyone stands. People are often introduced from oldest to youngest. Sometimes people go out their way to open doors for older people and not cross their legs in front of them.

When offering a book or paper to someone older than you, you should show respect by using two hands to present the object. On a crowded subway or bus, you should give up your seat to an elderly person.

Sometimes a comment based on age meant to be complimentary can turn out to be an insult. The New York Times described a businessmen who was meeting with some high-ranking government officials and told one them he was “probably too young to remember.” The comment was intended to be a compliment:—that the official looked young for his age—but it was taken as insult—that the officials was not old enough to be treated with respect.

Respect for elders is best expressed during the "elder’s first" rite, the central ritual of the Chinese New Year, in which family members kneel and bow on the ground to everyone older than them: first grandparents, then parents, siblings and relatives, even elderly neighbors. In the old days a son was expected to honor his deceased father by occupying a hut by his grave and abstaining from meat, wine and sex for 25 months.

Graying of China

Another consequence of a low birth rate and one-child policy is an increasingly older population. As of 2005 about 143 million people (more than 10 percent of the population) were over 60. This is more than population of all but about ten countries. The rate is expected to increase at a rate of 100 million a decade. By 2050, there are expected to be 438 million elderly, or one out of four Chinese, compared with one out of ten in 1980.

By 2020 the number of people between 20 and 24 is expected to be half of the 124 million in 2010. During the same time period the number of people over 60 is expected to jump from 12 percent of the population—167 million people—to 17 percent.

In Shanghai, people over 60 already make 21.6 percent of the population and are expected to make up 34 percent in 2020. Similar trend are occurring across the country, especially in urban areas where the working-age population is expect to peak in about 2015.

An aging population means that relatively small group of young people has to economically support a large number of elderly people. Health care and pension costs will soar as elderly people make up a larger portion of the population. There will be a labor shortage as the demands by the elderly exceed the ability to young people to meet them. The ratio of working people to retirees is dropping quickly. Immigrant labor will be needed to make up the shortfall.

China is the first nation to have to cope with a population that is getting older before it becomes rich. The elderly population is expected to mushroom before the economy and society have the capability to deal with the problem. Already, China is racking up health care and pension costs it can not afford as people born in the 1950s and 60s begin retiring. By 2035 and 2040 the peak of the aging problem China will face a social security deficient of $128 billion.

times higher than in rural China. One need not be a Sino-pessimist to suggest that Chinese society will have to cope with its coming age burden on vastly lower income levels than Japan or today's graying Western societies.

Who will care for this looming wave of retirees? Certainly it will not be the country's existing pension system. That irregular and arbitrary patchwork construct consists mainly of special arrangements for employees of certain municipalities and state enterprises, covering only a fraction of the country's workforce. Yet even these existing programs are manifestly unsound from an actuarial standpoint. Whereas the net present value of the U.S. social security system's unfunded liabilities are equivalent to America's total output for about one third of a year, the estimated liabilities of China's system are in excess of 100 percent of GDP. The existing social security system is doomed to collapse under its own weight. “

CAUSES OF DEPRESSION IN ELDERLY PEOPLE

Causes of depression

Older people are more likely to blame their depression on events or social circumstances. But while the death of a partner or friends, or coping with a chronic illness are important contributory factors, there are real biological changes that account for depression.

Brain-imaging studies have shown that in depression the brain circuits responsible for regulating mood, thinking, sleep, appetite and behaviour all fail to work properly. The chemicals that brain cells use to communicate with each other, called neurotransmitters, become out of balance. This happens in young and old alike and is always abnormal.

Several conditions can lead to depression in the elderly, including heart problems, low thyroid activity (hypothyroidism), vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency and cancer.

Many drugs also cause, aggravate or trigger depression, including beta-blockers, blood pressure drugs, heart drugs such as digoxin, steroids and sedatives.

Depression often occurs after a stroke, and getting it treated may be critical to restoring normal abilities.

How diet and exercise can keep both the heart and mind active in later life

A simpler recipe for staying sharp in old age has been uncovered by scientists.
The four key factors involved in preventing mental decline were found to be exercise, education, social activity and not smoking.
Researchers carried out a series of memory and mental tests on 2,500 men and women aged 70 to 79 over a period of eight years.
Just over half the participants showed a normal rate of agerelated decline while 16 per cent suffered a major reduction in their mental faculties.
Elderly people exercising
Exercise is one of four key factors in preventing to prevent mental decline in elderly people, scientists have found
However, 30 per cent of the study volunteers remained unchanged and in some cases even showed an improvement in performance over the years.
The researchers then examined what lifestyle factors stood out among the people who were able to remain quick-witted in old age.
The study, published in the journal Neurology, revealed that those who exercised moderately or vigorously at least once a week were 30 per cent more likely to 'stay sharp' than people who did not.
Individuals with a good education were nearly three times more likely to maintain their mental faculties than those with less education.
Non-smokers were nearly twice as likely to remain mentally fit than smokers.
And people who were socially active - either by working or volunteering, or by living with someone - were 24 per cent more likely to avoid mental deterioration in later life.
'Some of these factors such as exercise and smoking are behaviours that people can change,' said study leader Dr Alexandra Fiocco, from the University of California at San Francisco.
'These results will also help us understand the mechanisms that are involved in successful ageing.'

Elderly people in modern society

Elderly people are the backbone of modern society. They have shown us and continue to show us what can be done and exactly how to do it. There is not enough respect for all the people that have gone before us. Elderly people have been "there" and done just about everything we can think about. They've probably done some things that they prefer not to think about either! Most will not admit to all that they have done; but they have the best of lifes stories.
Elderly people are no different than the rest of us. They are older, a little less flexible and sometimes may have to think about things for a longer period of time. I knew one lady that I would have hired in a minute. She had to retire from a law office at ninety because her boss was retiring at seventy. I find that a large percentage of my friends, range in age from seventy to ninety-seven. Older people have been around the block more than a few times. They tend to be witty, interesting and are so much fun to be around. They love to party, have fun, and be around people that they love and care about. Sound like they are no different than the rest of us!
In the Asian society, the elderly are respected and looked up to. Unfortunately, in American society this is not always true. Elderly people in our society are sometimes viewed as a nuisance and not valued for the wonderful people that they are. The medical community can be very harsh on the elderly. They use the justification that they have already lived their lives. They ignore medical conditions that would never be ignored on a younger person. My mother would have never made eighty-nine without my intervention. There seems to be a misnomer in this society that older people are useless and have nothing to contribute!

Older people are sometimes told that they are useless, or just simply ignored. Even though they are older, they have feelings and would like to enjoy the same respect and joy that a younger person enjoys. You see the elderly working at the Wal-Mart doors. They also work with the county and use their skills and knowledge to help the people who are starting a business. They are the volunteers at hospitals (pink ladies); they man many of the soup kitchens and are an asset to our community. They are the Grand Mothers and Grand Fathers of our children, and are our Mothers and Fathers. They deserve our love and respect. We owe a lot of our successes in life to our seniors. They are the ones who have gone before us and are here to show us the way.
People are living longer and are much more active than in anytime in the past. People in who are in their 80's are not afraid to drive across the United States to visit a friend. The Grand Mothers and Grand fathers of today are the people who tell our children stories of their past. They are the people who have time to show our children the value of unconditional love. The elderly of today are active and do not let any grass grow under their feet. The biggest problem they face other than health is dealing with their kids. Just because someone is older it does not mean that their children have the right to tell them what to do or how to live their lives. My Mom believed that "You should live until you die". A life should never be wasted and people should live every moment of their life to its fullest!
As long as your parents have a sound mind and almost sound body; leave them be. Let your parents live their lives the way that they want to. They took care of you all their lives; now it is their turn to do as they please and enjoy life. Our responsibility to our parents is to make sure that they have they things they need such as proper food, shelter and are as happy as they can be. If they want to travel and they are able; we should wish them well and send them on their way. A few extra bucks slipped into their wallet would be a nice gesture!
"Old" Age is nothing like it used to be! Older people want to get out, enjoy life and just have fun. There is a dance called the "Chicken" and I have seen eighty and ninety year old people, squat like they were laying an egg, and then stand up and do it again. These are the same people who entered the room with canes and were complaining about their aches and pains. I agree with my Mother; I wish for all older people to live their lives to the fullest. Their kids should not be telling them how to behave for their age. My Mom was always a lot of fun to be around. She enjoyed and appreciated all the wonders in life. We both believe that life should be lived to its fullest, and that we should never take the time to waste even a moment!

Old People

Old age : consists of ages nearing or surpassing the average life span of human beings, and thus the end of the human life cycle. Euphemisms
Old people have limited regenerative abilities and are more prone to disease, syndromes, and sickness than other adults. For the biology of ageing, see senescence. The medical study of the aging process is gerontology, and the study of diseases that afflict the elderly is geriatrics.

There many young people think that Old People are boring, but that’s not true because
old people are always so nice to me and tell me so much about life. i see them as experienced in life lessons. in some movies they make old people seem mean and rude or REALLY sweet. i think they like to talk to us because they may see their old selves in us.

BAD LIVING CONDITIONS OF THE OLD PEOPLE IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

I read in the newspaper " EL DIA " the past month several reports about the bad living conditions of old people in our country, Dominican Republic.
Most of those old people don't have any money for support their expenditures, especially to buy medicine, food and clothes. they don't have help from anyone of their families, however there are many institucions and generous people that give them some help, but it is not enough because not always money is available for the number of old people who need some help.
this situation show us that is very hard to make old in the Dominican Republic where old people are like a " Big Problem or Big Garbaje Bags " for their families and the society.
Mostly old people in the Dominican Republic live in poverty and they are almost povertystrickens. this is the sad reality about our " Grandpas " and " Grandmas " in this little island.

old people

we call old people to those persons which have an advanced age. it can change from one culture to other, for example, in a country a person can be consider old after it is 60, or 65, in other it can be consider old after the age of 75, or 80. but what really care about those people is the treatment they receive in those different cultures and countries.
here in Dominican Republic, old people are depressible for younger ones. many of us look at then like a charge, like something useless, that the only they do is to make us spend money. also, the same society does nothing for those people. here, there is not retirement plans for then to support themselves after they are out of working. in this country get old without having an economical support to solve your problems means that you gonna suffer a lot of needs.

addictions

an addiction is an out of control desire for doing something. there are many kinds of addiction. you can be addicted to chemicals, like alcohol, drugs, and so on. in other hand you can have process addiction, it is be addicted to no chemical things like food, sex, etc.
